About The Summit

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has unveiled the President’s sweeping plan to overhaul the U.S. financial system – placing the alternative investment industry squarely within the cross hairs.

Geithner’s plan to reform the US financial regulatory system is more far-reaching than initially expected. In particular, the legislation will create a new "systemic risk regulator", that will have incredibly broad new oversight powers as well as the authority to directly intervene in "systematically important" financial institutions.

The new legislation shall impose a litany of new regulatory requirements upon Alternative Investment Funds and have a substantial impact upon all industry participants including service providers.

Equally as important, the new legislation provides for the direct regulation of credit derivatives, including credit-default swaps.
